My husband, Dan Mears, remains the guiding light for this endeavor!
Why is it called iPlaid?
The story behind the name iPlaid is deeply personal. Dan was taken by this devastating disease, and his memory continues to inspire. During my journey of coping with his loss, I turned to art as a means of expression. On my iPad, I created a plaid image. I thought, I have to name this piece iPlaid in honor of Steve Jobs, the technical visionary who transformed our lives through Apple technology and was also lost to the same relentless disease. A Plaid on the iPad called iPlaid was born. The acronym means "Intuitive Passion Launches an Inner Discovery". We can make a difference for all of those who have been affected by this silent killer. Patrick Swayze, Count Basie, Michael Landon, Alex Trekbek, Aretha Franklin and many more. It knows no boundaries.
The purpose of iPlaid goes beyond art—it's a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change. Through art, awareness, and community, we hope to raise funds for pancreatic cancer researchers, support patients and their families, and honor the memories of those we have lost.
Join us on this meaningful journey as we strive to find a cure for pancreatic cancer, one brushstroke at a time. Your support can make all the difference. Together, we can turn iPlaid into a symbol of resilience and progress in the fight against this devastating disease.
